Olly Bear
Tony Kenyon started out by being apprenticed as a lithographic artist followed by two years studying at the London School of Printing. After college he worked for various London advertising agencies as an art director before moving to Montreal, Quebec and then to San Francisco just in time for 'Flower Power' and 'The Summer of Love'. Enticed by the Tropics, he moved to Honolulu, and lived for thirteen years in Hawaii, working as an art director in advertising and TV but finding time to design a newspaper and magazines, paint, make prints and work as a film animator. Tony's first illustrations were for The Guardian. Later he did illustrations for newspapers, record companies and publishers. His first published picture books were written and illustrated in Hawaii. Returning to England in 1983 he began to write again. He has illustrated over 45 titles and as author/illustrator has completed nine titles. He has produced work for many publishers including Orion Children's Books, Walker Books, Hamish Hamilton/Penguin, Hodder, Kingfisher,Longman, Collins and Scholastic. |
